My current top 100 games of all time.

always updated. not complete yet

100 Alternate Reality represented freedom and possibilty for the first time of my gaming life. an atmospheric rpg that seemed infinite to an 11 year old. i used to love walking down the grey cobbled roads, hearing the blacksmith toiling, and then randomly encountering another thief, cursing myself for wandering about after dark.
99 Gaunlet dim arcades, smokey, social. "valykerie is about to die". i remember being nervous about letting my unknown teammates down. then, as a budding programmer, trying to ape the classic top-down / isometric view.
98 Double Dragon violent outburts in public. i would place this at the local bowling alley and feel tough. really tough. the machine withstood angry kid smacks. great music and, at the time, really nice shading and graphic design.
97 Silpheed one of the few reasons to own a sega cd. slipheed is an on-railers shooter, but epic. it really possessed a star wars like sense of scale in it's space battles, and i remember wanting to keep playing it in order to see how many more polygons the scd could push. still a good game today.
96 Vette! a first of its kind of game. although wildly dated today, vette was enthralling upon release. boasted a completely polygonal rendering of san francisco, complete with working gas station. it came with a map, and i use to plan out drives around the bay
95 Tecmo Bowl time was back in grade school, tecmo bowl was *the* virtual social yardstick by which my friends and i were judged. well, for a little while anyways. the original gameplay was beautiful and addictive (and completely unrealistic) in the way only good nes games can be.
94 Chrono Trigger a monumental console rpg. of which, i am not often a fan, but this game is an exception. a 16 bit work of art, winding and symphonic. i still play this today through emulation.
93 Crash Bandicoot when a new console arrives at your home, you want that game that represents the monumental leap your dollars just bartered. crash was this game in the nineties. man, i was floored seeing the fully polygonal, vibrant, spinning world. i played it with care, trying to savor each moment, afraid when they would run out.
